To not start smoking. (I'm OK with drinking.)

That is my guilty pleasure as well. My son thinks I quit cigars, but I sneak one a couple of times a week anyway. ;)

  • "To bowl for a cup of coffee."

One afternoon, a friend and I were bowling and decided to bet a cup of coffee on the outcome of the game ... low man buys. We were using the tele-score, so our scores were visible to the whole bowling alley ... if they cared to look, although no one knew of our bet.
As the game progressed, a crowd started gathering behind our pair of lanes and by game's end ... almost all the people in the bowling alley were behind us, on the concourse, watching the match.  My friend bowled a one hundred-sixty-five game and I bowled a two hundred-ninety-eight.

I would like to do that again!  :))

  • Thanks, CP.  I've never bowled a 300 game, but it couldn't have been anymore memorable than this one ... and Howard remained my friend, although we never bowled for coffee again. :))

I'll go with my first thought, which is only a relatively superficial "achievement" - - I entered a Concerto (solo instrument supported by an orchestra) Competition definitely as an underdog and I ended up winning and I got to solo on piano playing the concerto, live in concert.

That meant quite a lot to me because the composer's music is truly my favorite music I've ever played for piano. And I corresponded with the composer a bit back and forth ever since.

I'm going to look to see if there is a recording somewhere of the concerto! I may be back!

    UPDATE!!
I'm back! This is the concerto i played! It's not me playing here but I did play it- - I just wanted to share the music of composer Robert Muczynski!
His "Concerto #1 for Piano and Orchestra" (1954) -- this guy's music just resonates completely and strongly within my soul!

  • Sometimes ... it's the little things that seem to mean so much.  A wonderful story, Welby.  Thanks for sharing. :)

I would choose two parents and four grandparents who liked each other, at least a little bit.
