    No apostrophe.

When I wrote that they don't count, I meant that one doesn't put the vehicle in park, turn off the engine, exit the vehicle, etc.
Stopping for petrol or for a bite to eat or a restroom break are different than red lights and stop signs.

OK, what if someone turns off their engine at a red light to save fuel?  Some cars do that automatically.

In the Vienna Convention of Traffic Signs and Signals the traffic light goes from red to red plus yellow and then to green (a step the USA omits) to give those who chose to turn off their engines to save fuel time to start their engines again before the light turns green.

(Sigh.)  Do they put their vehicle in park, turn off the engine, exit, grab a sandwich and fill up the fuel tank before the light turns green?  (Eye-roll.)

Proably in the mountains of Sedona. I am not sure how long, but I don't like having to drive without stopping.  I find it annoying after awhile.  I like stoplights so I can reapply mascara, text important messages, and eat food.

You responded as a comment inside of an existing thread instead of your own separate answer.

  • With two 120 gallon fuel tanks and a truck that got 5 mpg,
keeping track of a number like that is probably not a good idea (legally).
Let's just say it's more than the average "four-wheeler."

    Sedona to Phoenix.

I had to.  I had no cash money, one credit card, no gas (a little over a quarter tank) and no gas station up there that would take a credit card.  This is 2002.   This is not `1892, I am talking about here.

Thank god, literally, that I was driving almost entirely downhill and did not use much gas.  Otherwise I would have had to live in the hills until someone came by to rescue me, because that was before me caring about a cell phone.  What a child I was at 52 years old.

    What a baby.

About 275 miles on a stretch of I90 from Wall, SD going East. There was literally nowhere to stop, with a warning sign telling you to fill your tank. Since ten a few villages have popped up.On other longer. trip I always had to stop.
