I shall list those relatives of mine who have died from tobacco use: Grandfather: throat cancer. Aunt: lung cancer. Sister: complications of various cancers and heart disease. Sister-in-law: oops! she is still fighting throat cancer (for years now) Father-in-law: lung cancer. Brother-in-law: lung cancer. Brother-in-law: throat cancer. (note: my mother quit smoking at age 30 and is still alive at age 87)

  • My family was fine until my only oldest sister did at 47 from smoking like a chimney, no hair chemo and along with my mom at 67,  three painful years of
oxygen machine and immobility and than my father at 79 who quit 7 years before
but was still diagnose with lung cancer after losing his leg to bad circulation.
Don't ever try to tell me cigarettes aren't sick killers which make you cough sick. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at February 11, 2018 4:38 PM MST

  • Weakness wicks. I have had two teachers say things. One is nobody has any business smoking and running out for a cigarette is a copout from learning.

I reached for one in a non existent astray the other day.  Then remembered I haven't smoked for about 5 years.  Very weird.  This whole week has been filled with drama.

  • "While you've a lucifer to light your fag" ... from the song "Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag."

(A "lucifer" was a popular make of match, and "fag" is British slang for a cigarette).

I smoke while gabbing with a friend
    Can't resist the cigarette trend

I'll quit some day, but not right now
Because cigarettes are the cat's meow

I puff and smoke in the early morning
The hack and cough an ignored warning

I get a craving in my sleep
Smoke mattress stuffing 'cause it's cheap

    My mouth's a firebox, throat's a chimney
My lungs cry "don't put that in me"

Life a challenge,  there's lots of humor
Until doc says "you've got a tumor

I love my wholesome youthful glory
But not an early obit story

How can I quit this awful vice
When it's promoted so attractively nice

No more cigarettes in the smart little pack
I've kicked the Reaper off my back This post was edited by Kittigate at April 27, 2018 12:49 PM MDT
