He should give each one of us the $85.00 he earned last year from the stolen information he provided. And that is just start. All 80 million people who were burglarized over and over again. Pay ME for my stolen property not the main thief.
I don't completely understand the workings of these sites - perhaps really not much at all. But I have noticed things like if I was posting about certain things then ads about those same things would pop up. So you know there is some kind of mechanism in place so that could happen.
Another thing I have thought about is this whole business is a function of anti-Trump sentiment. Because whatever happened is perceived to have helped Trump's candidacy. I wonder if it had been perceived to have helped Clinton's if he would not have a cabinet post by now.
Yes they monitor what you post, what you like and share and use the data to target specific ads to you. Yes, they are definately upset conservatives have learned how to use it.
I don't have an account, so I really don't care. I'm just getting tired of seeing it on the news. If folks would stop putting private info on it and stop buying stuff from the ads, then maybe this would all go away.
Seems to me a lot of people are just incredibly naïve. If we are posting in a public forum how could we expect that others would not read it and use it? The same as - on the TV show Catfish I am just so amazed that people get so hung up on people they have never even seen of met - almost beyond belief. I post a lot of very personal things because being anonymous I feel I can and still be protected and I want people to know exactly what at least one person's life is like. Of course I have no intention of running for public office. I am on my town's Conservation Commission and who knows but maybe they will read my posts and figure out who I am and not reappoint me! But doubtful.
Probably true. it would cost Facebook dearly if advertizers actually knew the address of people they send SPAM to they would not need service from Facebook anymore. Instead the advertizer send one email toFacebook with the advert and then Facebook pass on that mail to hundreds of Facebook users (or however many the advertizer pay them to send) It screw up any hopes of targeting of course, but worth it, because that way Facebook can sell the advertizer the same service over and over without loosing control.

Yes, techinically they don't sell your data like that. But to say they don't sell your data is like Pizza Hut saying they don't sell pizza crust or cheese.
