You did not answer my question m2c. Why? I asked what would you prefer and you respond by asking me a question. It hasn't washed before and it doesn't wash now and it will never wash. Avoidance only means you cannot answer because there is no justification for it. He has time to go to Michigan for a campaign rally or whatever but not for bringing back coal and steel jobs or working on getting Mexico to pay for the wall. Every time he slithers out of a promise you justify it and defend it. Don't you notice it? Thanks for question. Bet you can't answer it. This post was edited by RosieG at May 1, 2018 4:11 AM MDT

It won't work. Not unless the wall is built right around the entire coast as well, and international flighrs are cancelled. Boats and airplanes bring in illegals all the time.
Australia has an illegal immigrant problem, and it's not "the boats" that are the bogeyman trotted out by our conservatives every time an election is in the offing. It's primarily Brits and South Africans flying in on tourist visas and then not leaving when said visas have expired. By the time anybody gets around to looking for them, they've acquired new identities and have disappeared into the general population, indistinguishable from the legal ones.

The wall. Korean reunification would be a disaster. North Korea must embrace capitalism, develop economically, become a democracy, and debrainwash its people. Recovery from communism takes generations. Reunification might be possible in 50 years if things go well.

The jobs. The peace prize has been corrupt for a long time. I very much doubt the system will acknowledge Trump's achievement. In the end, it means nothing.

Reunification in Germany worked - a bit of an economic hiccup while the East German economy was brought up to speed, but now Germany is the powerhouse in Europe again. Trump can take no credit for the peaceful overtures from PDRK, however. That's been brought about by China's threat to turn off the oil, and the fact that North Korea has no choice but to close down its nuclear testing facility, the tunnels collapsed after the last test and the whole area is unstable now.
The wall won't work, illegals will simply go around it by sea, tunnel under it or fly over it. Trump would gave to shut down all international airports to make a dent in it.
Jobs? A tit-for-tat trade war with China won't create any. The problem with manufacturing jobs isn't purely one of cheap imports, it's also automation. Robots don't need higher wages and better working conditions. The assembly lines that used to employ thousands are now employing a few technicians whose job is to keep the machinery functioning.

Agreed on the peace prize, that's been a mockery for decades. Terrorists like Yasir Arafat can win it. Warmongers like Kissinger. Bleeding-hearts who turn a blind eye to atrocities like Aung Sang Suu Kyi. True philanthropists like Sir Bob Geldof don't get nominated. The situation in North Korea is far worse than East Germany and has existed for longer. The cultural and psychological damage is more extreme.

German reunification did not work. While retaining a strong economy (for now), Germany has fallen victim to cultural Marxism, probably in large part due to absorbing the poison of East Germany. It will probably be an Islamic State within 20 or 30 years. The main reason for its economic strength is that the E.U. is more or less a German empire that has been set up to benefit Germany at the expense of other member states.

If fixing the North Korean situation was so easy why wasn't it achieved already by previous administrations? China no doubt played a large part, though Trump influenced them to do so. I believe previous U.S. governments wanted the North Korean situation to continue. The military industrial complex likes continuous tension. It provides a pretext for increased military spending etc etc. I don't think Trump did anything particularly special he's just not a traitor to U.S. interests, unlike the globalist scum that usually occupy the oval office.

The wall does work. Yes, it can be circumvented but it still works. It's a symbolic f*** you to central and south america. Your argument is like saying there is no point locking your door because any thief who really wants to break in will break in. Just the presence of the wall will significantly discourage illegal immigrants. Numbers are down already just on the perception that the Trump administration isn't weak on the issue.

Bringing manufacturing home isn't just about jobs directly created, it's about investment. It stands to reason that if a trade deficit exists, money is going abroad instead of being invested domestically. Increasing domestic investment has massive indirect effects. (The rise of automation is a big problem that threatens to cause mass unemployment, but that's a separate issue.)

Bring manufacturing home isn't just about the economy, it's about independence and nationalism. If you can't produce the important stuff domestically, you are beholden to other nations and that makes you weak on the world stage. This post was edited by Zeitgeist at May 6, 2018 7:28 AM MDT
