Yup. When necessary, I have no problem looking anyone in the eye and saying what needs to be said and doing what needs to be done. :)

  • Assuming Leo Rosten's definition in The Joys of Yiddish - "gall, brazen nerve, effrontery, incredible 'guts',
but often used more colloquially to indicate a kind of cheekiness in asking for something -
assuming that the other can say no easily and without embarrassment.

    Me - none... :(

But my husband never fails to amaze me with his.
And it works every time! This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at June 8, 2018 9:48 PM MDT

"supreme self-confidence" was the definition I found.

    No, I don't have supreme self-confidence.

I guess I should have read Hartfire's definition - it's different than plain old supreme self confidence.
    :)

  • Thanks - but you were not wrong, WQ.
The original Hebrew meaning of the word does meaning intolerably overbearing and carries a heavily pejorative tone.

I’ll leave that for other people to determine.
Let’s say I am profoundly secure in myself.

No, actually I might be a little too timid.  But then I reach the breaking point with someone and I become downright uncivil.  I'm trying to let out my objections a little more gradually.

  • Awwe, shucks... looks down and away, not sure whether to be pleased or embarrassed.

Thank you again, a rare moment for me.
Truth is, I look like, well - let's just say I use two pairs of glasses, false teeth and need several face-lifts.

As long as you can still peek out through your bellybutton hole, that's good enough for me.

Let's say I have not been accused of being timid since I was about four years old.

I ran out. I'm going to TJ Maxx tomorrow to see if they have some slightly irregular or nearly expired chutzpah.

Hebrew chutzpah, no. Yiddish chutzpah, kinda - I have the cheekiness but not the arrogance.
