"Feckless" is a Scottish variant of English "effect". The meaning is "ineffective" or "worthless".

Actually, when "feck" is opposed to "feckless"  this Scots noun has additional significance: Efficacy; force; value; return. Amount; quantity (or a large amount/quantity)

Thus "feckless" would mean "useless" in what is now an infamous---or famous---part of a quote to describe a certain well known person in government.

I've noticed a few of your recent answers confuse me rather than add to my understanding if the world around me.

But if the problem is mine, rest assured I will fix it.

After seeing Jewels Vern's answer, "yes," I am.

    ;)

    Just kidding.

(I'm glad to have checked in, though -- I like the image you posted in your reply to Jewels Vern.)

I lack a feck, if I had a feck, I would try to be feckless, but I don't think it's really my style :P
