Listen, all I need from you is some money so that I can get out of town, and to hold me over for about a week or two until the heat's off.

You know I'm good for it, you know I'll pay you back as soon as I can.  All I have to do is pull a new job, yeah, that's it.  I'll meet up with the old crew, I'm sure they've got something cooked up, or they're at least planning something.  They might need a wheel-man, or a look-out, or maybe some muscle.  You know I get handle a heater, if the cops catch me with a rod, well, with me being on parole and all, you know they'll send me back up to finish the rest of that five-year stretch.  They'll tack on some more time for the hardware, too.  So what do you say?  I've always paid you back before, I'm good for every cent of it.  How long have I been here?  Even if you need a little interest back, I'll come through for you.  Say, do you still have that old sedan?  Is it running?
I've just got to get out of town, they're looking for me everywhere.  I can't make a move in any direction without some detective poking into my business.  I don't even know who might turn me in, who would take the reward money, who could be wearing a wire, they might even have someone working undercover right here!  My landlord is a bigmouth anyway, he probably let them into my apartment without insisting on a warrant.  Would you believe they even talked to my brother, to the lady who cuts my hair, to some of my old teachers?  Look at me, I'm a mess.  I haven't slept more than an hour or two at a time since this whole thing started, I have to keep moving, keep one eye open all the time.  There's no way they think it was an accident, I mean not after the same thing happening to me three times in a couple of years.  I heard they can even pull fingerprints from the insides of gloves that have been thrown away.  Do you know of anyone who's on the take?  I'm as tired as can be.   No street cops or patrolmen this time, that's whack.  Maybe a prosecutor or a judge would do it.  You can't miss a trick these days, they have all kinds of technology to jam a guy up.
Hey, you haven't said a thing about the cash yet.  Can you see your way clear to letting me have a few hundred?  I wonder if I need a disguise or something like that.  If I hook up with the fellas, I'm sure they can point me where I need to go.  My hands are starting to shake all the time now, I'm jumping at shadows, I'm hearing things, I can't eat or sleep.  I'll have the money back to you in no time, there's no way I'd leave you hanging.  This is different than that last time, I was a different person then, I was going through a rough time, you'll get double if you want it.  What time is it?  I haven't sleep since this morning.  One job, one quick job, a small crew of just three or four guys, that's all.  I could do a con job, I'm good at those.  Enough money to get cleaned up, some clothes, a new town, I'll be as good as new.  Should I dye my hair a completely different color?
