Was the choice that Adam & Eve had between the Tree of Life & the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil really the red pill vs. the blue pill?

This is another question inspired by this question: https://answermug.com/forums/topic/61063/how-did-adam-and-eve-get-enough-protein-to-survive-did-they-jus/view/post_id/501704

Adam and Eve could have taken the blue pill by refusing to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil but no, they picked the red pill.  The blue pill was ignorant bliss.  Is ignorant bliss better than knowledge that sometimes comes with suffering and misery?  Also, wouldn't that have made the serpent the good guy by showing them the choice between the red pill and the blue pill?

What if there are more options than just creation versus evolution?  I can think of at least three different possibilities.

    1. Theistic evolution.

    2. It was always here.

    3.  Matter has some sort of directions or instructions contained within it to create the universe. The directions for evolution were contained within the evolving cells thereby eliminating trial and error.

Other people can probably think up even more possibilities.

    This argument also makes sense.

This argument makes sense, however, it  only argues for a creator, not a specific creator.

If I don’t want my kids playing with something, I either keep it locked up or I keep a eye on the kids.  The main reasons that I keep stuff away from my kids is that it’s either dangerous or it’s expensive.  However, dangerous things have a purpose, such as cutting food.

What purpose did the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil have other than to call out to Adam and Eve “Eat me! Eat me!”?  That would be like me putting a pillow in the middle of the room, telling my kids not to touch it as a test to see if they’re obedient, then punishing them for touching the pillow.  What good would that do?  That makes no sense. Do your kids love you?  Do you force them to love you, or is it their own choice whether they love you or not?   Could they choose not to love you if they so desired?

If God had not given Adam and Eve the choice, they would have essentially been robots, simply doing what they were programmed to do.  God created Adam and Eve to be “free” beings, able to make decisions, able to choose between good and evil.  In order for Adam and Eve to truly be free, they had to have a choice.

What we have here is a bunch of people writing their own bibles and then blaming God because they don't make sense. That crap you guys are spouting did not come from God.

Only the first response here blames God. Read it again, Jewels. This post was edited by Don Barzini at November 13, 2022 10:07 PM MST

But the question is phrased as if Adam and Eve and the rest of it literally existed and happened. There is no way to verify that.

I had to go back and read the question that inspired this question.  It’s good that I posted the link because I didn’t even remember asking this question.  I saw it come up in the feed and I was trying to think up a good answer until I actually clicked on it and…Oh wait, I’m the one who asked it, lol.

JA’s question about how Adam and Eve got enough protein is also phrased as it literally existed and happened.

Anyway, I personally don’t think it happened that way, but I’m not going to let that stop me from asking a good (or bad) question on here.
