A good deed is only true when you do it knowing nobody is watching. Do you think this is true?

A look tells more then words can say.
Do your good deed and slink away.
Dont look around to see who's seen.
Just make it look like you've never been..

    :)D

It's all my own work   :) .......for some strange reason I can do it without thinking....it just takes a spark to set my brain thinking...
I do it endlessly in my head without having to think about it....
I often watch TV and it only takes one phrase to set me off....I've done it ever since I can remember and it was the only sure fire way of getting me out of trouble with my parents.....
Teachers at school kind of hated me doing it as none had the ability to best me ...I always get the last word in every time...all give up they can't react quick enough....
Its the best way of putting anyone down that thinks they are above you...Great way of making friends to.....
Yes ,this Pen is far mightier than any Sword.....lol This post was edited by Nice Jugs at March 2, 2019 11:01 AM MST

Most "good" deeds are selfish deeds.

I don't think it's true at all times. If I see a situation in which I could help or do a good deed, I will do it, even if there are people around that could see me do it. If there's a crowd around, do I just stand and do nothing because people might see me do something nice?

And I'm thinking I may be taking your question too literally.

Yeah, I've thought about your question since posting my answer --  I get your intention and, yes, it is profound.

That means that in your case, it'll never work: you know I'm always watching you.

No its good as long as it helps someone.  Is good even if you benefit yourself from it as well as others.  Especially good if you don't benefit from it (no self-interest).  Can understand why people would want to be secretive about it but I don't think any reason to be ashamed of doing good.

I agree, I forgot who actually said this, but for some reason it stuck in my head as something pretty neat. ;)

I've always looked at things that way. I do a lot of things no one else will never know about.

I follow the Buddhists and Hindus who believe in non-attachment to reach Nirvana or heaven.

Therefore, if you are looking for praise or some boon for doing good, then all benefit has been erased by you alone.

Just do.  God is always watching.  God is the eternal witness.  Do and don't ask.

    That is total freedom.
