Someone actually mentioned us on Yahoo Answers and another site. One of the intake questions asks how they found us- when I saw that I went and poked around. I have no idea who did it because I didn't recognize the name, but someone's out there trying to reel a few in and it is working.
I am aware of two other sites that also have increased numbers, so there may be something to that theory. I have no idea how people locate new sites to hang out.
Answers dot-com has gone into suspended animation. This branch of Wikipedia was a genuine knowledge-exchange rather than a social discussion site, with lots of subject classifications.
It worked well, on the whole, but did have problems: it was infested with children posting homework questions (sometimes answered by over-clever respondents determined to baffle the poor blighters); and vandals answering genuine questions with wilful and sometimes even obscene rubbish.
It's still there but frozen - you cannot offer answers any more.
