Have you ever been on a duck ride? The boats on wheels.

I have about 12 yrs ago could have been this same boat.

There was an accident yesterday one capsized killing 17 of 32 people. Sudden storm. Water was calm when they went in but 60 mile winds came up while on the water.  Very sad.

  • "No" ... I've seen the military version, but didn't realize anyone was converting them for use by the public.

I think these are military versions just with a new paint job. But alot of tourist areas have them.

Yes, in Baltimore. I remember when we left land and entered Chesapeake Bay, the Captain explained where the life jackets were and said that we were to put them on if we saw his rear end going over the windshield. It seemed funny at the time.

The vehicles are from WWII and my understanding is that they were never used, so were converted to tourist rides. This post was edited by Jane S at July 20, 2018 8:41 PM MDT

I think humor is one of the job requirements.

There is a company that bought a fleet of old army ducks and used them to take tourist on rides on the River Thames in London and also around the sights of London.....one day maybe ten years plus ago there was and accident on the river and passengers got hurt... ...
I believe they were off the road and water for a while ,and pretty sure they are back in use again....

I find it upsetting that that none of the answers so far have addressed the incredible tragedy. My sister is here this weekend, (The one who I have never met), and she has been there. It was quite saddening. I am disappointed how crass some have become. Not a good ending to my day.

I just figured some don't read the details of a question. But yes very tragic. Just heard 9 of the 17 dead are from the same family. Just awful to even imagine.

    Bad enough all right.
Your link did not work -at least not for me. I googled to find more info about the tragedy.

I think usually on AM you have to copy and paste it...then remove the s in https. It is a glitch in the site.
