Which is your favourite Handel piece? I have two: Zadok the Priest, and Largo from Xerxes.

Of course, there are several others I like too, but these top my list.

    (I like that 'Largo,' too.)

"Allegro Maestoso" from the Water Music

EDIT: Well, I guess I picked the wrong performance to post; this doesn't play it all. Oh, well. You get the idea. And I'm too lazy at the moment to get a complete version.

You've never heard the Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah?
Somebody call King David, there's a Philistine on the loose. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at July 31, 2018 1:57 AM MDT

Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. Played it for my niece's wedding (as a recessional)!

The Messiah is of course the regular warhorse.

  • For unto us...

The slow movement from concero grosso Op. 6. No. 12 is also very beautiful.  This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at July 30, 2018 9:18 AM MDT

I have no dislikes when it comes to Handel.  This is one I've recently listened to though:

  • It's a long piece. I heard the first few minutes, and will come back to it later in the night or early tomorrow morning. Thanks for recommending it.

That's not the whole thing either.  It's quite long and lovely.  You're welcome.  Good post, WT.

In addition to the ones that everybody likes - of what I have heard I play more of the instrumental music at home. Organ concertos, concerto grossos, Opus 6 etc.  I have  attended some operas but they did not very much interest me except for Samson which I thought was pretty good. And singers do particular songs or arias some of which I have enjoyed.  Sorry I don't remember particular ones but I just put on a CD and listen to the whole thing.
