Probably Herman's Hermits.  That's the earliest group I remember liking a lot.

  • I didn't start collecting music until the early 90's, so I mostly bought albums to get to one song and this was the first such song .....

    Cusco - "Montezuma"

I'm not familiar but I listened to all five minutes and love it.  Thanks!

  • My pleasure. I was first introduced to the Cusco group while listening to the Art Bell radio show "Coast 2 Coast AM." Now I have all their albums except their Christmas one. Almost all instrumental music, kinda upbeat and from many cultures.

I'm unsure but there's a great chance it was
"I Can See Clearly Now"   written and sung by Johnny Nash (and he was my first celebrity crush)

but what good taste I had, ha! I still love this song and Nash's other works

Nash has one of the clearest singing tones I've heard

I'm a fan and have that wonderful song somewhere in my record cabinet.  It's on an album but that particular picture is not familiar so it's a different album.

The rain is gone.  So many possibilities when someone says that.  :)

Yes, I'm a big fan of his.
This is the album I bought that had the song on it when I wanted the entire album after having the single.
Yeah, true about that lyric - - even though I love the rain.

Image result for i can see clearly now

Last year, I sent Peter 'Herman' Noone an E-mail describing one of his upcoming venues. He actually responded but basically requested that I not send anymore comments because he was on 'holiday'.  Grumpy!

Wannabe from the Spice Girls, my dad purchased it but I encourage it. As I was only 6 when it was released.

The first I ever bought, or ever owned? My mother used to get them for me (birthdays, Christmases) until I was old enough to buy them myself. Only way she could stop me from nicking hers.
First one I bought myself that I remember was this one. I was eleven.

Distant Lover by Marvin Gaye.  Which is still about my favorite popular record of all time.  Before that - we did not play music at home except on the radio. My parents had a stereo but it was theirs and they played shows and comedy records and singers when they were younger until they lost interest. So I listened at my friend's homes to The Monkees. The Rascals, Motown, and Led Zeppelin etc.  When I got on my own could not afford them but most of my boyfriends listened to music and would sometimes get me LPs they thought I should listen to.  But besides those I never really began acquiring records until I got into classical music in my 30s and those were CDs.

I got to meet Felix Cavileri , the singer behind the keyboards and writer of most of the songs by the Rascals. He was very kind to my handicapped son and even waved goodbye to us as we left the building.
