A bit of both. Two of our bedrooms have bare wooden floors. The large rug in the family room keeps it warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. (cold basement.)

"bare" floors where it's easy to have messy spills or water (kitchen, bathroom).

    carpeting elsewhere

The wall-to-wall light-colored carpeting was already here when I got here. The cat throw-up accidents have made it difficult.
Bare floors may have been better. This post was edited by WelbyQuentin at August 22, 2018 1:28 AM MDT

I prefer bare floors because carpeting agitates my allergies.

I prefer carpeting (so do my cats).   However, after having them for 25 or so years I had to remove my carpets due to severe allergies and I can't afford to replace them.  Therefore my floors remain nude.

I prefer bare wood floors for the reason already posted.  (Allergies)

Poliished floorboards or vinyl. My daughter is asthmatic, carpets harbour dust mites. And hard floors are much easier to keep clean.

Bare except for under my desk, there I have a piece of plastic so wheels on the chair wont ruin the wood.

I like carpet in MY bedroom and wood everywhere else.  I hate tile; it is just too hard and hurts my feet.  I also like vinyl flooring....the good stuff with pvc backing that is heavy and lays flat  as well as the plank flooring.  I like almost all types of flooring other than tile or concrete....and I've seen some really beautiful concrete floors in the last few years.  I also love terrazzo floors but, like tile and concrete, it is just too hard.

Really nice hardwood floors, stairs, entryways, decks, kitchen, tile in bathroom with a fuzzy white through rug so you get out of the bath. Tile in laundry room and mud room., Thick, lush carpet in family room, bedrooms, hallways, living room, office.  I'm a 100%, a 50/50 sort of wizardress. A little spice in the floor coverings make for a sweet foot world. and a very versatile house. :)

  • The traffic through here is too high for carpeting and the natives are messy.
