I cannot find PEACH ICE CREAM in any regular grocery store any more. They have a zillion exotic flavors. No peach. Anyone know WHY?

I have never made ice cream m'dear. I know there are machines that do everything for you. In the long ago olden days you had to crank it by hand. It was very labor-intensive. I remember having a neighbor years ago who made some fresh peach ice and gave us some along with some homemade peach pie. As I recall they had peach trees in their backyard.. I think that was the best ice cream I've ever had! It's just that peach is more standard than some of those really hi-falutin' exotic flavors. It's just so darn weird bh! Peach used to be a standard flavor in the summer especially. I can't remember the last time I saw any. Some of the combinations they come up with from some imagination gone wild are mind-boggling ! I guess that's progress.  Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday! :) Around the holidays they come out with peppermint ice cream and pumpkin pie and apple pie. I have tried them on occasion and they are always disappointing! :(

Ya know what Sbf? I cannot remember the last time I saw English Toffee ice cream either. I used to buy it in the long ago. I must have spent 20 minutes in the ice cream aisle yesterday of TWO DIFFERENT STORES. I checked out every one they had including the expensive ones. NO PEACH ANYWHERE but they sure had some doozies flavorwise. I don't get it.  Thank you for your reply. Different subject. Did you watch that  Thiem/Nadal 5-setter? That was some match!  Rafa had to withdraw from the match yesterday because he was hurt. I think the 5-setter might have done it. In a few months we'll see the Australian Open. I can hardly wait! :)

The weirdest ice cream flavour I ever saw was "Caramite" - caramel and Vegemite! No, I didn't try it. Vegemite is for toast, sandwiches or crumpets, not ice cream.

Isn't vegemite a pretend beef flavor thingy Sbf? Ever heard of garlic ice cream?  The town of Gilroy is in central California and is known as the Garlic Capital of the World and they hold (or used to) a garlic festival there every year...in August I believe. As you go by Gilroy any time of year you're apt to smell garlic. Now for garlic lovers that's a nifty thing. I have not tasted it but I know it exists. There are so many w wacky ice cream flavors it probably numbers in the  high hundreds or maybe thousands. Peach though. Not findable. Extinct? Too common? Say it ain't so Joe! Vegemite is a yeast extract and tastes absolutely nothing like anything else but itself. You could say it's vaguely like Marmite, but VERY vaguely. Uniquely Australian and not a pretend anything.
As for ice cream, peach has never been a popular ice cream flavour here and I've not seen it. Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry - those will never disappear while ice cream still exists. Boysenberry ripple, mint, choc chip are also unlikely to go. My personal fave is honey, which local producer Golden North specialises in. Garlic ice cream sounds too weird.

I think it was Marmite I was confusing with Vegemite. Ever see that Lucille Ball sketch where she is pitching something called Vegevitavitamin or something that sounds like that? It is loaded with alcohol and she has to do multiple takes and she ends up very drunk! It is hilarious . But I digress. Maybe fruits are geographical? Peach never a favorite in Australia? What about peach pie peach cobbler peach jam? Thank you for your reply Sbf.

Peaches we have (had a tree in the backyard of our house a couple moves ago). They're a vital ingredient in fruit salad and are also often found on pavlova. Fruit pies of any description can be had but savoury pies are more common - primarily beef and chicken. Strawberry, raspberry, apricot and plum are popular jam, peach not so much.

Thank you Sbf. I appreciate learning about that. I remember decades ago when I moved from California to Massachusetts I tried to find fresh tortillas! I mean in California we border Mexico there are taco stands and Mexican restaurants and the ingredients in every store to make any meal you  want of any ethnicity. They looked at me as if I were nuts! I finally found an old box of rigid taco shells and took them home. They were inedible of course. So for the five years we lived in that state I did without any Mexican food. When we moved back to California for 3 months straight I had bean and cheese burritos or taquitos or tacos or refried beans every day for lunch. I am not kidding! You take for granted that what is available to you will be available everywhere you go and it isn't! You adjust and  learn to do without! Oh the mayo we use in California is BEST FOODS. I'm not a big fan of mayo either, I prefer aioli.
I do enjoy Mexican food, when it's on the menu at home I'm the chef. Tacos (hard or soft), burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, nachos or just plain chilli con carne - I'm it. Everybody raves about my guac. They have avocados in Massachusetts, right? I find it hard to believe that tortillas were unavailable - Australia is MUCH farther away from Mexico and you can pick up kits at the supermarket.

We moved from Cailfornia to Massachusetts way back in November 1965 Sbf! There wasn't even one Mexican restaurant there at that time. The only beans you'd get was the Saturday Night Special of "Franks and Beans" and the beans were always the icky sweet Boston Baked beans...which I do not favor. Also brown bread. That was the typical Saturday night supper in those days. Hot dogs, baked beans and brown bread. I'm sure it's very different now. In fact by the time we moved to California in 1970 there was at least one Mexican Restaurant in Boston. You are my cuppa tea m'dear gastronomically! I bet your  Mexican creations are delish! My favorite is TAMALES! Years ago when my sis and brother-in-law lived in California they took me to Las Vegas for my birthday one year and we ate at the RIO Hotel which had a sumptuous spread 24/7. They had the typical breakfast of bacon and eggs and toast and orange juice. I had 3 tamales every morning! I do make tacos a lot and taquitos(rarely) and lots of refried beans and cheese. I LOVE cilantro and sometimes will make salsa from scratcg!  I'm getting hungry. AARRGGHH! Thank you for your reply Sbf! :) As for aioli I LOVE it! All ya gotta do is crush garlic into mayo and VOILA! A co-worker gave me that hint years ago and it does make a great dip or spread for sandwiches. I think I"m gonna make aioli today! Ick. I have actually seen pbj ice cream. I bet it's for tilde-loving grammar-obsessed former marines.

Some peeps have peanut allergies (I don't, I just think they're vile). Nobody has ever had an anaphylactic reaction to Vegemite.

  Well, when it comes to peanut butter, only weak people have negative reactions to it.
