Is there any point in "draining the swamp" if you still let the alligators loose?

Ya you got to drain the swamp after the alligators are gone so you can get rid of the leeches too. Cheers and happy weekend!

Where are the gators left to go after their swamp is drained?

On a related note, this is, of course, a snappy little catch-phrase that President Caligula beat to death during the 2016 campaign. Absent the fact he lacks the authority to actually do it,  instead of “draining the swamp”, he has —metaphorically speaking— opened a pipeline of Trump sewage (let’s call it Trumpage) dumping nonstop into said swamp. It now stinks worse than it ever did. Offensive even to gators.
Any wonder Republicans in Congress are retiring in such large numbers? This post was edited by Don Barzini at September 24, 2018 8:23 AM MDT

He didn't drain the swamp.  He merely replaced the old swamp denizens with different ones.
