Only for a short time after four broken ribs and a punctured lung.
Apparently, if there is too much pain, the patient breathes too shallowly which leads to pneumonia,
so an opioid of the right dosage allows normal breathing.
I went off them as soon as I could to avoid addiction.

Nope.  I've been prescribed them on many occasions, but I never even filled one prescription.  My viewpoint: medications aren't good for the body, so the less of them you use the better off you are.

I take opioids in anticipation of pain,  Just kidding.  I took them once when I had a wisdom tooth pulled but I didn't HAVE to take them.  I didn't like the way they made me feel.

I took one when I had my wisdom teeth removed. They had to cut into my gums and remove them before they came in. I took one pill and usher the rest down the toilet. I hated how I felt when I took it.

My mother had back surgery and was prescribed opioids. She started having hallucinations and got off  them immediately.

No pain pills here.  I've had quite a few surgeries and two babies and pain pills were not part of any of it.  I have a high threshold plus I am stubborn.

I took some kind of pain prescription when I had my first wisdom tooth extracted.  They did very little for me and I wound up taking aspirin which worked better.  I had a shot or morphine in the ER when I had a kidney stone.  Other than that, OTC meds work just fine.

Didn't have to.  Chose to.  The pain of alienation.

I had them prescribed when I was recovering from diverticulitis surgery.
I may have taken 2 out of a 3-week supply.

  • I had morphine pills after I dislocated my hip.  They really helped me through the most excruciating pain I've ever felt.
