Regardless of laws or statutes, it's a fact that many people use their phones hands-on while driving. Truth be told, are you one of them?

*I'm not referring to hands-free use.

I've been dying to ask you... so that means you don't play pocket-pool while you drive?  Good thing.  Pool needs both hands!! Big winks and smiles!

No.  I don't talk on the phone while driving and I don't text while driving.

I love to drive; therefore, I like to pay attention to the road.
I like to talk on the phone.  When I do so, I like to give them my undivided attention.

If I did both at the same time, I would be robbing myself of two pleasures.
NO.  I do not for those reasons.

Like Morning star, I do use my phone when I drive at times for the GPS feature.

  • "No"  I always leave my landline at home. That way my car's gas mileage doesn't suffer.  :)

NO!  I've had to sit behind people stopped at green lights because they were too busy with their phone to notice that the light had changed and didn't even care that I was behind them honking.  And that's not all.  I have a Do Not Disturb setting on my phone for when I'm driving.  I only take it in my car in case of an emergency.

I lived in Washington State where it was illegal and didn't drive and use my mobile even before that.  I do not ever use my mobile while driving.  I chastise those who do.  If I need to make a call I pull off the road to do it.  When it rings I usually don't even take it out of my purse until I park, then I look to see who it was.  The people who have my mobile number are few.  They know I don't use it readily.  I've had the same number since 1993 when I got my first mobile.  I've never given out the number freely.  That's what my home phone is for....talking.  The mobile is for necessity and convenience when not at home.

Thriftymaid, over all the years there are many characteristics I've noticed that shine through with you. Two that stand true are logic and consistency.  You may say "Thrifty" and maybe you are.  I see you set in your ways in a good way because many of them are logical.  This is very responsible.  Emergencies.  Like the Police and Ambulances had for their jobs.  Now, most of us have them.  They have taken on their own identity.  They most certainly have changed our ways of communication and interacting. They have developed their own language and made it more dangerous for our survival than helped.
It would be wise if we re-thought the power we have given them.
I would like to go back to having landlines.  Faxes would be o.k. too but being available to everyone and every telemarketer and marketing device is just plain idiotic.  I am as guilty as most others.  I do rely on mine for GPS.  I don't, however, drive and talk on them.  I wait.
