What will you do when Answermug is invaded by kids?

That's what happened to EP.  The pre-adolescents came and the grown-ups left.   I was one of the last grown-ups and some of them said I was a dirty old man trying to hook up.  The truth is I didn't pay attention to people's ages and I still don't.  Anyway, what will you do?

Say, which precinct were you in?  I was assigned to apostrophe enforcement back then.

  • To be honest, I don't understand what any kid would find interesting on here.    I wouldn't mind kids being here, because the rules are so strict, there really is nothing bad that they would be exposed to by reading a vanilla post.   I just don't think kids would find this place entertaining.

On EP the trend gathered momentum as more and more kids joined.  Some of the questions were now about video game characters, a sibling blaming them for something, the latest toys on the market, homework etc.

  • Oh okay. I was on Answerology. That and Answerbag are the only two that I've heard of before AM.

Stevie Nicks is one of my favorites too but for partly different reasons I'm sure.  (No one else knows what we're talking about. Cool.) This post was edited by CallMeIshmael at December 24, 2018 8:44 AM MST

Kids? They're too busy playing playstation and on facebook. We have actual serious questions and answers here (yeah...right). Why would they be interested? Randy, Stu and me would drive them away. (Find the error Randy or Stu.) This post was edited by Element 99 at December 23, 2018 7:36 PM MST

  • Kids aren't interested in a real discussion forum. They just want to post memes and selfies (which seems to be what a lot of SimilarWorlds is).

I remember when I was kid online; now I'm one of the mature older ones :P

I'm not sure kids would be much interested in what we discuss here.  Having said that, there used to be a number of older teens on a now-defunct site called SodaHead and they were very mature and level-headed.  For the most part, they were interested and interesting.

A lot of it has to do with how the site presents itself. EP was set up in a way that was enticing to kids. We don't have the same feel. As others noted, there are other sites that are geared more toward discussions for the younger crowd as well, so it wouldn't make sense for kids to come here.

There are big differences in the way people interact based on their ages. Without a major redesign and an app, I can't see this site attracting kids. And, the fact that there are really none here now means they wouldn't have anyone to interact with their own age if they did show up would mean they'd likely leave promptly. I just don't see it happening.

I do remember AB had quite a few. I never paid attention to ages either. I was always astounded when someone would tell me they were much older or much younger than I was because I never felt it in the discussions. I suspect, if we do ever attract kids, it will probably be the mature ones like that.

Kids are people too and they should have a forum for relating to one another.  Those of us who are older have lived the greater portion of our lives and we must expect that the younger generations will naturally and gradually take over and succeed us.  It can't be about us all the time.

i dont think kids would invade AM because there is always similarworlds which is around....

AM is more having the same database of users, the same old gang.
