Hello Jaimie It wasn't so much about the cereal, but the prizes were the most important, everything from 45 rpm records printed on the box to little air craft carriers with planes that shot off the deck via small rubber bands, almost guaranteed to put an eye out...but my favorite was "Banana Whackies"
My mother did not feed us cereal for breakfast. She would buy what I thought were called Sugar Pops but the looked like what you posted in your question. We could get some in a cup for a sweet snack. This is the way I did with my kids too. My mother and I both cooked breakfast for our children. No toaster pops, sweet rolls, breakfast bars, slime drinks, or sugar cereal. I do recognize today that some cereals are a good choice. I buy mini shredded wheat for a snack. But I fed my children fruits, peanut butter, toast, grits, cheese, eggs, french toast, or pancakes/waffles for breakfast. I rarely cooked meat. My mother fed us bacon, sausage, and pork chops for breakfast along with eggs, toast, and grits.
