The product or situation is starving for improvement so bad that 'it sucks'.

    From Urban Dictionary

The early Jazz musicians would say that a guy could really "Blow" if he had a good sound when playing the horn. If he couldn't play very well then they would say that he was "Sucking" on that horn. That's where the term "Suck" as being something bad came from.
He plays that horn so poorly that he must be sucking on it.

    He doesn't blow, he sucks.

    (Makes sense anyway.)

I don't think I ever knew that. It does make sense.
Now that I think about it, it does seem somewhat familiar to me --  like I had heard it before.

hmmm.. always wondered about that word used as being a negative.......if someONE sucks, they give great head, no?
but a vacuum cleaner sucks, and picks up dirt, etc., so why is that a BAD thing?

    makes no sense to me........

BUT being a jazz fan, I liked the old story about the musician who really did 'suck' his instrument..........

and that leads to .............well I better stop while I"m ahead!

    LOL

    :-D
