Have you ever paid for gasoline and drove off without pumping it?

No. but more than once in both scenarios - -

    1)
I've paid for fast food at the first window -- and then drove away, forgetting to pick up my food at the second window

    2)
I've paid for groceries and left the store without taking the groceries with me

I can relate with you if you have done this with gas
    :)

I feel better, thanks, have done that twice and went back fast enough that the pump was still set.

Yes. I only use my debit card now so will not happen again.

My husband's stepdad drove off with the gas pump nozzle still in the gas tank.

I've had a fear of doing that ever since I started driving.  It seems like it would happen often but this is the first admission I know of. :)

No because I don't pump my own gas.  I use stations with attendants.

No.  I did go into a Chinese restaurant and order and pay for take out and walk out to my car to leave.  When I turned around to go back in one of their employees was running toward me.  Yeah, I don't go there now.

Yes. And I blame marijuana.  Three times and all three times I was higher than three kites.

I avoid prepay petrol pumps where possible. I never know exactly how much I need, if I'm "filling her up".

Nearly all pumps in the US are prepay or credit card now. This post was edited by my2cents at March 27, 2019 4:30 AM MDT

Not all.  Cash can be used at some of them here in southern California.

Don't you have pumps that accept payment after you pump?

Not yet, but I can see that happening soon!  I forgot my groceries once.  "Hey miss you forgot your bag! " Kinda embarrassing!

Nope.  I always use a credit/debit card at the pump.

I see the stories of people paying for "to go" at a restaurant, then walking out without the food.
I always wait until I receive and check the food before paying ... because they ALWAYS forget SOMETHING in the order.
Even "fast food", I don't use the drive-through because I won't pay before making sure the entire order is correct.
