I knew the people who started the site and joined right away. I never spent a lot of time here; I was an Answerbag user. When Answerbag died I, along with lots of people, started using Answermug.
An epic battle of power on another Q&A site.. I was dragged here by two former moderators on that site along with about 30 other people. I’m one of the last survivors from that group. I AM A SUPER HERO.
I came here after a few friends from another site landed here. I was told about it and joined. Two of those four "friends" left for reasons I am unaware of. The other site I was on continually bashed the United States. I get the political fervor but, no one is going to make me hate my country. I grew up in a military family. My male family members have fought in the civil war. Some on opposite sides, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, and my father was involved in the Cuban Missle Crisis (aboard the nuclear sub). I just could not stand the constant bashing of my country and left. I've had family members die for this country. So, goodbye and goodbye donations to you.
Many of us grew up learning to be proud of our country and its best institutions. I don't think anyone ever thought we were perfect but seems in public education after mid 1980s or so they started teaching kids about how bad we were as a country which I think was too bad. Because they end up not even realizing so much of what we enjoy here which is so positive.
I believe that you are correct. There is no respect for our military. The very people who fight for your freedom in a country that is a republic. Just look at what is going on in Venezuela. A country that was economically sound and very rich, a country that chose socialism and today, they're trying to overthrow the person they put in power. They are fighting for their freedom. Our Constitution needs to stay intact. I understand all the political fervor over our current president. But, the core values our country was built on WORKS.
***disclaimer**** to anyone, this NOT an invitation to talk about politics.

Agree entirely. Which doesn't mean I am in the mood for talking politics right now. One of the reasons I have taken to coming on here in the evening is the lack of political haranguing at this hour.
I was not in on the origin of AM but I remember people on answerbag, where I appeared from 2009 until 2015, talking about it. I had four wonderful years there and made many friends before it all started to unravel around 2013. Eventually so many of the posts I had spent a lot of time on and was proud of started being deleted because they were not considered "family-friendly" which was very frustrating and discouraging and I departed oh perhaps a month or two before they pulled the plug. Then followed a wonderful year free of chat and Q & A sites but when answerbag was sold and began operation again I signed on and was on the renewed site for a few months until one day I found myself locked out permanently - don't know why. So in March two years ago I came on Am mostly because of the presence here of some former AB friends. Who happily are still with us.
Answerbag refugee. When Demand Media shut the site down without warning, I drifted a bit until a chat with Bornabrit yielded RosieG's email address. She invited me to AM.
