What are the real causes of Randy D's tilde and sandwich fixations?

I like the sandwich fixation because I can post food pics.  I have no interest in tildes.  This has been going on for so long it is indeed tired.

but...have at it.  You can enjoy and I get to complain.  It is a schtick both he and I have come to be comfortably familiar with.

I ended the sentence in a preposition.  That is the only fixation of his that really irks.  Not that he is a great grammarian, he definitely is; but that he has to foist his priceless advice on the hapless Mug victim who may just be trying to answer a question.

But make no mistake.  I love Randy.  He is family.  And it takes an entire family to feed Randy.

I reckon he made them up,
like creating a harmless online persona.
it lets him ask lots of questions and make lots of jokes
while revealing nothing real about who he is,
other than an aspect of his sense of humour.

It actually began as a contest between RandyD and another guy: which would become more popular -tildes or trash bag clothing.
