It does 42 English miles to the PROPER English gallon and does 630 miles to a tank full if I don't drive around like a maniac.... I would fink 15 or 16 big gallons ,not like the tiny ones you lot over there are forced to buy.....
It seems not every fing in American is biggest and better after all.... Hehe
I've always known the approximate capacity of my gas tanks, just by pumping my own gas when the tank is almost empty. My current vehicle's tank is about 12 gallons.
It's the closest anyone has presented yet! I would go on a road trip with you for many reasons but knowing how much gas your car/truck takes down to the 1/2 gallon is a huge added bonus!! Big Giggles!!!!
LOL ... I think I read it in the owners manual, but I would have to check to be absolutely certain. We would be like Thelma & Louise. How much fun that would be. :) :)
I have concluded that, contrary to the owner's manual, the fuel capacity of my truck is infinite. It seems that no matter how much money I hand them at the station ($70, $80, $90, $100 ...), the fuel gauge never gets above the 1/4 mark.
But it sounds like it doesn't get below 1/4 tank either no matter how much money you dump into it. On that note, car dealerships, writers of all car-manuals, mechanics, AAA tow-truck drivers, and my father absolutely love you!!!!!

The manual says 16.6 to 18.5 gallons. To me that says, I have about 30 miles to play with depending on if I am driving on hills, around the city or on the highway. However much it is, thank goodness it gets me from one gas station to the other without running out. Thus far, anyway... I always cross my fingers and say thank you for the money to fill it and the spirit who gets me there safely. :) :)

I don't, but worse, the fuel gauge is not accurate.
That's because it doesn't have the original tank; and the gauge, which is original, is another example of Gallic triumph of style over function and practicality, and complexity over simplicity.
The car is an ex-Motability Scheme, Renault Kangoo 1200cc petrol, and the Motability conversion to enable it to take a wheelchair loaded by ramp and winch, forced fitting a specially-made tank due to the lowered floor.
The gauge is digital, too, and not progressive but a column of small l.e.d. lamps of unknown volumetric relationship; each lamp probably represents a different volume increment; and the consumption is shown by sudden drops from lamp to lamp. Just to make it more fun, a very strong hysteresis means you can arrive home with apparently a third of a tank left, but next time you use the car the reading is now on minimum! Similarly on refuelling, you can never take the reading as a reliable estimate of how much capacity is available.
The manual from the converters does warn you the gauge is no longer a true and accurate record, and not to run the fuel down to the bottom two increments. In fact the vehicle seems to work on a Thirds Rule somewhat akin to that used for the cave-diver's air reserves (turn back at one-third used). Once the car's fuel-gauge steps below the two-thirds lamp, whatever that actually means in gallons left on that journey, start looking for a filling-station; a need sharpened by such establishments becoming fewer and further between.
30 and 35 gallons. I did read the owner's manual to find out how many gallons are left when the "fuel" warning comes on. I get up to $1.00 per gallon off depending on how many fuel "points" I have when I fill up, so I like to maximize the fill up volume.
Oh by the way" pleb" is a debased slang contraction of "plebeian", the Roman term for the ordinary citizen, the root also in "plebiscite" (essentially the Western democratic principle).... so since you state implicitly your not being an ordinary citizen, you are.........? :-)
