  • Saying daily affirmations into my mirror every morning is the only thing that gets me out of bed everyday....

  • Maybe if I tried that I wouldn't hit the snooze button ten times

But that's different. If it helps you then at serves a purpose  And I'm not seeing it on my Facebook feed so I can still maintain my inner peace

  • Okay I lied, I don’t really do daily affirmations. It’s knowing there’s wine at the end of the day that keeps me going.

  • Lol, good, I was feeling a bit like an a-hole for a moment. I like wine but it's too little bang for your buck. Bring on the hard stuff.

  • Oh gawd, I don’t come here to be serious. I have enough of that crap offline. Just assume 90 percent of everything I say is sarcastic bullshizzat lol. Except the deciding between having a baby or getting a house plant, and my concern about the aids. That’s all pretty serious stuff.

  • Yeah, same. My real life can be pretty intense so I'm rarely serious in this setting.

But I still vote for a plant. That's my serious advice.

    They don't inspire me.

  • Yeah, I mostly find them trite. But I guess some people find value in them.

If it works for someone, that's fine.  I guess I just don't need something to inspire me to do something I want to do. :)

  • I don't hate them, but I do find them to be a bit vapid. If they work for others, so be it.

  • Thanks, Kitten. I thought it was was just me because I have the soul of a curmudgeon.

It depends on the source, the author, and my mind frame.
    Some I find very insipational.
Some are so biblically drab, it drains me to read them.
    Others are obvious.
You know.  It is all in if they really help You at the moment and are open to suggestions.

  • Grumble, grumble :/

Just kidding, it's cool and I'm not hating on that :)

I find truth in all the answers so far.

Merlin is close to how I am with them (other than Stuart up there looking in the mirror, ha! He's always good for a laugh to me)

Yes, though -- often those inspirational quotes do help me. If I allow it, my mind can so very often FLY to irrational land of anxiety and worry - - and sometimes a quote or expression or slogan can help myself stop that mental fight and, instead, remind me of their (often) obvious truths and they encourage me to slow down my mind and breathe.

    :)

    Ah!
How nice of you to say!

I'm glad I expressed my thought well.

  • After reading that, I feel like I can fly. But I also feel like I should get a dog.

I thought you might.  As far as the dog make sure they fit your personality, mine are Labradors.  They like to swim, so do some Marines
