No, seriously. :-)
Kind of like it is right now?
Is this a hypothetical pretending the Civil Rights Act of 1964 doesn't exist?
Title II grants protected "Protected Class" status to all people, not just the minority demographic.
Hello NotHarryPotter.
My comment was not to suggest that many black people didn't also die during the civil war. I am also not discounting the idea of states rights being an issue either.
During the debate awhile back over the Confederate flag, there was a side who put forth that the civil war was really over states rights, Then there were those who said it was exclusively about slavery. Ex, whom I have known for quite awhile, took the latter opinion.
If on the one hand you say the civil war WAS about slavery then out of the 2 sides fighting one of them was fighting to abolish slavery. They gave their lives in that pursuit.
To then say that doesn't "earn" them anything is curious to me...
To make a derogatory blanket statement about a particular race of people is in itself pretty racist. I find it to be just as ignorant as "All Black people.....", or "All Mexican people....."..
That thinking is the same thinking that hung "whites only" signs over lunch counters, the other race didn't need protection because they didn't earn it...
There are three possibilities here; one, you have no idea what the word 'racist' means, two, you have have some evidence to support your insinuation, or three, you're lying...again.
And I have no idea who these people are that are supposed to like me. Perhaps you could point me in their direction? I've never had a fan club before. :-)
Minority privilege exists and is manifested whenever a member of said minority is given, say, a 'leg up (i.e., an advantage)' over a majority-member competitor. E.g., Affirmative Action in employment or academic opportunities.
Minority privilege exists and is manifested whenever, say, a gay couple has the power to demand that a dissenting baker or florist provide them with a service which they would otherwise not willingly provide.
And should you ever find yourselves under ACTUAL attack, such protection would be appropriate.
Not THIS majority member!
...Unless you wanna count all those dispossessed white farmers. :-)
'-Ish' hell. That would be a perfect example of institutional racism.
As, incidentally, would be an all black government in the presence of a minority of whites. :-)
You know white people were once slaves, right? You know that the word slave is derived from the word Slav, right? You know that Slavs are predominantly white, right?
:-)
And SURELY you know that black people aren't the only persons to have paid in blood for advancements in civil and human rights, right?
Stereotype much, Ex?
To hear the history books tell it, some 600,000 men were fed into a meatgrinder (most of whom were WHITE) to rid the nation of the scourge of slavery. Race-based slavery, anyway.
Liberals have been doing that for eighty years. :-)
1) I strongly support them, too, provided they're applied consistently.
2) 'Round these parts, pard, quoting Rand will get you in serious trouble. :-)
As for everything else you've said, spot on!
...Not. :-)
Are you serious? You presume to contribute to this discussion and you have no idea what a protected class is? Yes, you are CLEARLY unaware! :-)
Read, mark, inwardly digest:
(I think RP would have done well to have read your post before responding. :-))
Thanks :)
I know you agree, sorry... This one always makes me rant!
I so rarely find opportunities to quote her best material.
Then you shouldn't have anything to worry about once you're in the minority.
Well since race and colour are already listed as protected classes, I don't know what you mean by this question. Are you imagining the civil rights act to be repealed at some point in the future?
Quit borrowing from somebody else's evasive answer, RP. It doesn't suit you. :-)
