If you were the founder of a brand new country which animal would you chose for it's symbol?

 My cat. He kills and eats wild baby rabbits.

It's obvious 

Disciplined, strong, handsome animal...

The Fisher.  It's mean, savage, and vicious.  They even attack and eat porcupines

And notoriously mischeivious with an iron gut ;)

I think a cat ... Let's face it, they seem to have reached the pinnacle of evolution long before us ... I don't see them stressing out about car or mortgages repayments nor Monday mornings and returning to work ... They have a great night life and sleep most of the day while we go out to work to support them ... They get more back scratches and hugs then is decent ..

Where would you carve out the new country? What animals exist there? That's a start.
