ASHEVILLE, N.C.— A 69-year-old said she was shocked at her experience at Monday's Donald Trump rally that ended with a man punching her in the face.
Shirley Teter of Asheville protested against the Republican candidate during his Monday rally at the U.S. Cellular Center, where 7,000 attended and hundreds more protested.
Teter has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and uses an oxygen tank to help her breathe. After the punch, she ended up in the hospital until 2 a.m. Tuesday, she said.
"People need to know what state of agitation he puts people in," she said of Trump.
At the rally, Trump criticized Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton for calling some of his supporters "deplorables."
After the rally, Teter told others leaving "You better learn to speak Russian." She said that was referencing what she felt was a cozy relationship between the Republican and Russian President Vladamir Putin, who she said was "playing" Trump.
IT HAS BEGUN. Even your disbled Grandma on oxygen isn't safe from these people
But I thought all those people shouting the n-word for Obama and wanting to kill Hillary were just misunderstood patriots.
Granny deserved it. How dare her voice her opinion and protest!
It had to be a sucker punch ... too bad she didn't clobber the a$$ with her oxygen tank.
Political rallies bring out the worst in the deplorables. :(
Two guys were named and an arrest warrant was issued. Not sure if they caught these two jerks yet
lol! Well said :)
Thanks!
I'd pay really good money to see that, too.
Who are all the people crouched around her in the picture trying to help her? If the photo was taken at the rally, chances are pretty good that they're Trump supporters.
Point is, in any gathering of people--but especially at a political rally--there will always be one or two a$$holes. Even so, the woman herself summed up the situation quite nicely: " 'People need to know what state of agitation he puts people in,' she said of Trump."
LOLOLOL!
Granny has just as much right to protest the pinhead as anyone else. Doing so with no reasonable expectation of repercussions probably isn't too realistic, however.
I have the right to walk down the most dangerous street in Chicago wearing all kinds of bling with money hanging out of my pocket, but I have no right to expect not to be robbed.
Likewise!!
How long does it take for a person to become a monster if s/he's ceaselessly labeled as one?
Then why does Trump and his supporters keep criticizing Hillary Clinton for calling out the truth that some of his supporters are "deplorable"? Isn't he about the no crap saying things like they are? Or does that only apply to his opponents?
Btw, I'm not attacking your response, as I know how to read it. Your response however, makes me wonder what all this has turned into. Public political rallies should be open, and people able to ask their candidate critical questions too. I know how the reactions would have been if it had happened the other way around at a Clinton rally.
All this said, I should think rallies should be safer to attend than going down the most dangerous street in Chicago. IMHO.
Be interesting to see what reactions Trump had at that moment - like did he have a shocked and concerned look or a satisfied look. Also be interesting to hear what he had to say about it - like did he tell the crowd that it was terribly wrong or just go back to fueling the fire. Cheers!
No,,, That was Colin Kaeperdink !...LOL.
I can't believe some fool hasn't said she was a plant paid for by the DNC !!!
As soon as someone with an opposing view says so. Jeeze Louise!
:)
That's a good point, Nimitz. I believe many were other protestors. they could be the other 50% who are not deplorables
"Trump, at one point, commented, “Is there anywhere in America more fun to be than a Trump rally?”"
Said by Trump during arguments between rally goers and protestors.
This could have happened anywhere to anyone. Don't be silly. One moron does not make a whole set of voters deplorable. I'm pretty sure I could go to a Trump rally and not get beaten up. I'm not sure that I could go to any Clinton rally in the USA and not have some incident I could use to report the misbehavior of all Clinton voters.
Your story would have been good if you would have just reported the incident and not try to blame the behavior of one miscreant on the whole lot.
Always two sides...
here is a video of the event. It shows the alleged attacker, a 73 y.o. man who is scheduled to have eye surgery following the rally, being led out by his wife, because he cannot see very well. It shows the victim coming up behind the old man and reaching out to grab him from behind. He turns to see what is grabbing him and she falls back.
There were no bruises on her face and she returned shortly there after with a smile....
I totally disagree with you. You stand a 50/50 chance of getting beaten up by one of the 50% of deplorables if you protest. Trump rallies are violent and promote intolerance.
Clinton's comment about deplorables was the only honest thing she ever said. 50% of Trumps audiences ARE racists, White supremacists, ne-nazis, Alt-right, and pissed-off rednecks. Call it what you want, but if this is ignored, you'll either be goose stepping down the grocery isle or hiding from Trump's brown shirts.
My commentary and my story is perfect just the way it is
