Your step-daughter had everything to do with it. LOL
My bill is not bad. I live in a mild climate and that has everything to do with it. My bills are highest in the hottest weather from trying to keep it bearable inside. The lowest is $75. The highest is $150.

Those are excellent. She would take 40 minute showers and use an electric heater in the winter. We did replace our furnace and air conditioner. Big difference.
Relative to our income, high - totalling around a fifth of our budget - and that's mainly the annual Council rates.
Relative to what others pay, low. We get our electricity from the sun via solar panels and batteries. We don't (usually) pay for water because we catch our own from rain on the roof and filter it. For the orchard and veggie patch we draw from our dam (pond) which is spring-fed. But this year, due to the severity of the drought, we've had to buy water twice this spring. It's likely to get worse as the summer progresses. This is climate change in action. We're thinking about installing another tank with a more sophisticated filter so we can get potable water from the dam.
Relative to the actual costs of public services, very low. Our Tweed Shire Council maintains our roads, collects rubbish and organises recycling, provides an excellent free library, a low-cost Olympic swimming pool, maintains the recreational parks and beaches, and runs a community centre which provides services for the homeless and assistance for women and children who might need to escape violence or sexual abuse. It also funds local community festivals - invaluable in a rural area - helps people meet and maintain connections. All that for $2000 per year - a bargain.
My AEP is some of the lowest around. (last month was $46.) Come summer, the a/c runs it up to $150. I almost built my house on the First Energy side of the lot, but did not. Whew! We had a nearby dam/ and generating plant at one time, but they tore it out. It was built in 1913.
Those damn extra charges are a pain. During the summer we might use $4 worth of natural gas, but the bill is never less than forty. Same with electric.
My electric bill runs between $35-$40 in non-air conditioning months and around $70-$75 in the summer. My heat is included in my co-op maintenance and my stove is gas which runs around $15-$18 a month. I don't cook much.
Everything is too GODD**N high in this household! The rent, gas & electric, porn, cable. EVERYTHING!!

My bill runs between $200-$300. It did run about $400-$500 but we had a houseful. (6 adults and 2-4 kids) now we down to 3 adults. And I we had the furnace/ac worked and got the therostat programed better. We pay 13 cent per kwh plus $13.
