Could you swear an oath to God KNOWING that you're going to violate it??

If you swear an oath to God, it is between you and God. If you lie deliberately God is not there to listen.  Lindsey and Mitch are totally on their own.  

Certainly they are not alone.

God doesn't count when there is political commitments to deal with.

I won't take an oath at all, violating it or not. Any time I've been in court, I've made an affirmation rather than taking an oath on the Bible. I consider it the height of hypocrisy to swear by a book that explicitly forbids the practice of taking oaths. Matt 5: 34-37, cf Jas 5: 12.

I'm with Slartibartfast on this, Matt 5:34 and James 5:12.
