    They will be considered a collector's item.  Every time some sports figure has a sneaker named after him, they sell like hot cakes.  I used to work near the Nike Store on 57th Street and when one of those kinds of sneakers was coming out, the line to get into the store went around the block.  I once asked some guy why they would pay so much for a pair of sneakers and he told me that he buys them for maybe $350 and a week later, he can sell them for $500+.
