People are a social species, that is true. We tend to not go out and slaughter people because we do better cooperating with one another in society and would not want our own lives to be in danger either.

But I don’t believe that changes the hidden urges many have below the surface. Again, we just manifest it in different ways. If violence were not appealing, there would not be so many on gore websites or playing games like GTA. It’s fun to flirt with causing pain when you know there will not be repercussions to your own safety.

You may be unusual like Welby, but I don’t think many can say they’ve never fantasized just a little about what it might be like to kill. This post was edited by Lady Ondine at January 20, 2020 8:51 PM MST

A great stand to express and I agree.

An interesting trait, I find, about the human mind.

    Curiosity.

  • This is a wonderful conversation being had and I am loving the input that's offered from everyone here.  I will say again though that overall when I brought this topic up it was intended to ask why violence is accepted in so many areas of our lives yet society frowns open and reacts more prudishly to more open expressions of sexuality.  More to the point, on this website.

As everyone's friendly neighborhood over-sexed perv at answerMug I find myself throughout my history here being moderated or scolded by members for my Faggotry, my twinks, my references to oral gratification.  If these things are against TOS then so be it.  My point is why would excessive violence be tolerated.

Site rules clearly state that discussions and images should reflect a PG 13 sensibility. The rating of the show, Game of Thrones is MA, mature audiances. That is due to the sexual content, language, and violence.  Which by that very definition a GIF or clip  showcasing such I would argue should never be displayed in the main forum.  It belongs in Free-For-All or adultMug.  The rules need to be even keeled and without prejudice on mature topics.

I mean for Christ's sake...We can't show someone getting spanked?  But we can show therm getting their eyes gauged out?  Spare me the F*ck please?

If a person wants to get their freak on, as I often do, then I say go ahead.  But we all need to be cognizant of the time and place we should do it.  This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 21, 2020 4:06 AM MST

Yes, I think that there either shouldn’t be so much censorship in either direction, or that both should be kept to a special area of the mug. I don’t believe any of us here are not adults and as long as you aren’t posting clips of straight up porn then some flirtatious pictures and some spanking or references to kinky things shouldn’t be a problem for this site. But I guess at least they do have an adult section.

It is funny how society is more willing to embrace violence than sexual things, but I am biased because I find sex disgusting and find myself drawn to violence—so while I am this way, I still do find it funny since sex is completely natural and even beneficial and violence is so destructive. It seems to have been a trend in the western world to be very hush hush about anything sexual and I’m sure religion plays into it. If religion is man made, then this shame must be built into us in some manner. Why do we believe that discussing sex with kids at a young age would be so traumatic for them? All good questions.

I wish there was a section by itself here purely for gore and violent posts, but I’d be the only one posting there, lol.

    Thanks, Merlin! :)

If you were referring to the phrase - "I think violence is unnatural" -- do know that I was only quoting Twinkle Has The Most Stuff in his earlier post above mine. I like how he put it, too. Simply. It rang true for me.

  • It's interesting. People may assume that as an asexual, I would, by default, be disgusted by sex and talk of it. And it's true that some asexuals are and that's fine. I'm personally not, however. To me, sex is like any other bodily process: I don't find it arousing or particularly interesting, but I also don't find it disgusting (although it can be, as can many other bodily processes!) So I just take a neutral apathetic stance toward it rather than one of disgust. That said, I have always been squeamish when it comes to blood and violence and find that far more off-putting.

Saw only a glimpse of the gif and I squirmed immediately.
    :)

Stuff like that makes me uncomfortable. I used to be able to take it all better.

I admit.  I didn't look.  If it even has a glimpse of being scary, I turn away.
War of the Worlds is one right now and I'm not watching.  It was just on the channel we had it on last night.

I posted a picture of someone in a bathing suit/underwear and I was moderated. There was no erection. No focus on the sex organs.
I was also chastised heavily for using a portion of this photograph for my avatar.

The TOS is very clear, nothing more than PG-13 in an open forum. This scene is certainly not PG13.
I also am unable to use the WORD  "Bitch" when talking about female dogs.
There is more but I don't wish to relive old conversations.
The point is, that Violence of this nature is worse than posting images/videos portraying the beauty of the human body and people showing love for each and giving each other pleasure.
I would much rather have a child see explicit images pertaining to erotica (pornography if you like) than graphic scenes of violence and death.
Maybe that's the problem with this damn country.

  • I agree with you.  SURPRISE!  SURPRISE!  SURPRISE!  Most of these ratings and warnings and rules exists not only to inform the participant/viewer of what they are getting into but mainly it is for the protection of children.  Here at answerMug JA sites that as a paramount reason for the PG !3 standard.  And of course the blatant promotion of illegal activity is unacceptable in all forums.

I'm with you 100% on the matter of what children view.  I'd sit a child of mine down in front of porn before I'd sit them down in front of a movie like "Hostel".  Funny thing though.  Showing a child porn is illegal and showing them torture porn movies like that is found acceptable in the eyes of the law.

Our laws are sooo F*cked up on what is right and what is wrong. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 21, 2020 12:33 AM MST

Why you surprised, Honey Bunny. Often we have many of the same opinions like Frick & Frack, Hekyl & Jekyl, Patsy & Eddie, Jesus & Bernie, Dylan & Kyro.
You complete me, Sugar Muffin! LOL

Moving along with my blather...I would NEVER let a child of mine see Hostel.
My boys have seen porn. Not because I allowed them to, but because they have access to the internet and through their friends. I can honestly state that my kids NEVER had a nightmare involving pictures of a sexual nature. Both are well adjusted, great kids with no hangups.

  • LOL!
    That is soooo funny.  IKR!
Many children have been frightened by imagined glowing eyes at the end of a hall or a shadowy figure in a room, but how many little boys have come running to their parents room crying because they saw a set of perky boobs or a voluptuous posterior in the night?

And since we're naming whackadoodle duos.
How 'bout these two...Elton and RuPaul.
    This one's for you baby...

(I watched the opening moments of "Hostel" and was afraid of where it would go - - and I knew where it was going to go in a general way; had heard some general info on what it was about, too - and I just stopped watching. I will not watch it at this point in my life, either. :) )

    Yesterday.
I was driving home and had to pee.  When I turned on our road and saw our house, it became intense.
I knew the bathroom was close... I was almost there... I was in the driveway... Can I open the door, run up the stairs and make it to the bathroom??
PHEW!  Yes, I did but it was a squirm, last second, moment.  I barely made it out of my jeans. This post was edited by Merlin at January 20, 2020 4:48 PM MST
