Those of you who smoke cigarettes: do you throw cigarette butts anywhere and everywhere? I’m willing to bet that very few smokers will

admit to doing it, yet someone must be, because there are thousands of them strewn about and littering every outdoor venue possible. I’m sure the first “defense” to this action it the claim that a lit cigarette butt is a potential fire hazard that must be discarded immediately, and the best place to do it is on the ground. Of course, I don’t buy that for a second.

I do not due that. I 'field strip' them and put the filter in my pocket or other container that may be available.

    (due do)

I have the sneaking suspicion that you posted like that intentionally to get my goat.

No, I didn't. Sometimes my mind wanders when I type.

I usually aim my butt to the gutter or if I am in a 'clean place' I dowse the burning ember and put the butt into my back pocket. Sometimes I offer my partially smoked cigarette to a panhandler and let him worry about disposing the butt.

I can't remember the last time I saw a cigarette butt anywhere at all other than in my neighbor's back porch ashtray...she is an infrequent smoker.  We have ashtrays at the pool but they are always empty.   This post was edited by Thriftymaid at January 24, 2020 6:08 PM MST

If there was no one at the pool...it then stands to reason that the ash trays would be empty I think ...
We  have pubs with empty ash trays to until its opening time ...  :(

When I smoked I did toss the butts on the ground without any thought or care about the nasty habit. And that 4 pack a day habit littered a lot of landscape. Something I'm not proud of.
