    @I'veGotNuggetsJr.

No, but I find apologists for racism/bigotry disgusting. You, apparently, in your need to believe TEH STOOPID EBIL LIBRUHLZ are the source of all evil are such an apologist.

But, yeah, we STOOPID EBIL LIBRUHLZ with our "literalism" and empirical facts. We take all the fun out of being a bigoted f***tard. Sucks, doesn't it?

    Hello Nimitz.

Ha, It would be...if it wasn't so sad..

This is case of shooting the messenger, but not over the message.

C'mon, a bowl of skittles?. How is that racist or hateful?,

The problem is you can take any population, with any percentage of "bads" in it, and use the Skittle/M&M analogy to make the same point about it. That's the hallmark of a bad analogy, and bad reasoning.

That is so silly you will have to provide a link with Trump directly or indirectly saying so.

"No, but I find apologists for racism/bigotry disgusting."

How 'bout that!  So do I!  (Of course, I understand the MEANING and DIFFERENCE between the two words, and I only use them when they actually APPLY. :-))

"You, apparently, in your need to believe TEH STOOPID EBIL LIBRUHLZ are the source of all evil are such an apologist."

ROFL!  Ad hominem so soon, SKOS?  Perhaps you can provide EVIDENCE of this charge? No?  Hmmm.  I guess that makes you a liar...again.

"But, yeah, we STOOPID EBIL LIBRUHLZ with our "literalism" and empirical facts. We take all the fun out of being a bigoted f***tard. Sucks, doesn't it?"

I wouldn't know.  Right now I'm having a blast watching mentally-challenged government junkies melt down over nothing. LOL!

It has the "ring of truth" about it, because it's what's known as an intuition pump. There was a meme circulating around not long ago using M&Ms, men, and rapists, instead of Skittles, refugees, and terrorists. It was terrible reasoning then, and it's terrible reasoning now.

This analogy is out of gas. Where's your sense of critical thinking man? https://debunkingdenialism.com/2014/07/05/poisonous-mms-the-irrational-monstrosity-of-bigotry/

I'm not aware of too many people who actually confuse a bowl of skittles with real-life human beings.

Besides, the comparison was between poisoned skittles and terrorists/terrorist sympathizers among many presumably harmless 'skittles.'

  • I guess my main contention is this idea amongst some that we owe them a welcome mat when we have our own problems we aren't dealing with.

I'm not worried about what any candidate is going to do to help the people of any other nation. Their job is to help us.

I never said/suggested the analogy was appropriate or even, as analogies go, accurate.  I've indicated only that getting bent out of shape over it is a ludicrous attempt to foment feigned outrage over nothing.

Dehumanizing the refugees is what they do. Who are they? People without compassion, sociopaths, and rich spoiled brats.

Actually, Trump Jr. Stole it from someone else. It was Joe Walsh who said it. Jr. Just posted it on Twitter, with a photo for the campaign, using Skittles as a metaphor for immigrants.

    Twitter responded with a vengeance!

I'm actually concerned about how many people are apparently getting bent into shape by it, in the sense that they think it's a compelling anti-immigration argument. I just really hate seeing people abandon critical thinking (or have never learned it) and eagerly swallow this bilge.

First off, it's just a terrible, illogical argument for anti-immigration. No reasonable person should accept it, regardless of their stance on immigration. Second, whether you want to see borders close or open, buying into such arguments affect people who are already in the country, and you end up with citizens who have lived in the country for years, even all their lives, and treated like garbage because of their background. Third, just because there are serious domestic problems, doesn't mean that foreign policy needs to be abandoned. What America does on the world stage matters. What happens to Syrian and other refugees does matter. Do you want those people working with you, or against you?

I don't get to say this very often in our discussions, so I'm gonna say it in bold type:

    I AGREE!
