It dumped a thick layer of ash over most of the North West and the Midwest and probably caused hundreds of years of constant winter over the Northern Hemisphere. Will mankind survive such a catastrophe?

They stand on their own two feet and not the backs or shoulders of others. Weak/desperate is not a good thing for a boss/leader/decisionmaker. It is a very very very ungood thing. SIGH.
