This may sound ridiculous to those of you who purchase a lot of tools, but I purchased my first drill this week. I've used drills, they just belonged to whoever the man in my life was at that time. No man, no drill. So, I needed my own. In any case, I ordered one online and picked it up at the local hardware store. I was so excited when I came home that I wanted to get it up and charging right away. I opened the box and... no battery or charger.
Bewildered, I examined the drill for several minutes, pulled apart any "parts" in the box, and spent several minutes mulling over whether it was possible the battery was merely an odd shape I didn't recognize and perhaps the cord was tucked away inside something. Eventually, I gave up and picked up the instructions, flipping to the section on the battery right away. "Attach battery as shown," it said. There were no pictures in the instruction book. At all. Anywhere.
Eventually, I discovered the battery was sold separately. That wonderful tidbit was not anywhere on the online description for the product, nor was it in the instruction manual. However, it was on the box in small print... and, no, there was not a pic of the box online either. Apparently, I was just supposed to know.
Too late. I already ordered the battery separately and had it shipped to my house, purely so I could avoid having to go back to the store. If I return it at this point, I need to drive to the store to return the drill and then wait for the battery to arrive in two weeks and return that as well. This is why I don't do home repair. lol Where were you BEFORE I ordered the drill?!?
Not all big brand models of and brand of tools are fit for purpose....Dewalt ,Makita,Bosch ,Milwaukee and all of the big brand names on occassion turn out crap... I have a 10.8 v impact driver and a two speed drill...the actual drills are good ,but the batteries both never help their charge....My brother that has the same but older models are still going strong .. There are guys on ytube that test all brands and models to distraction..check them out before you buy any tool of any brand.. I bought a Milwaukee heavy duty SDS hammer 250 v drill used once and it packed up...it was £300 plus....while it was sent of to be checked, I was given the stores their own AEG drill to borrow...it wasn't new ,may be 6-7 years old ,but looked brand new still ...it the best drill I've ever owned and the guy let me but it for £40 pounds...The Milwaukee sits in its box on the shelf ,the play when I clip in its drill churck is terrible... Like cars and every thing man made.....all manafacturees bring out bad models....so many companies sub out the things they make to other companies and they make them under licence for them....beware of any tools made in China....only their cups and dinner plates are correctly labled....hehe
