I agree. But this is what we found. I have not yet seen a photo of any snake in the world that was like the one we found. It had no rattle and was about 3 feet long. It was found about 1963.
I do not get close enough to kill them. I run away. I had one run me out of my store. I made my husband get it out. I still did not want to go back in for awhile. He did not kill it.....just took it back to the field. A customer thought it was my pet that got loose. I used to keep a painted concrete snake in a tank with our sulcata tortoise. I do not think she ever believed me that it was not my pet. LOL
That may not be entirely accurate. Brain development and instinct might be separate from each other, but an animal’s sense of survival and self-protection are perhaps all that are necessary to conceptualize threat analysis. By sensing your presence, the animal may ignore you, may adopt a fight-or-flight response, or if hungry, may try to turn you into the lunchtime catch-of-the-day, but either way, their brains, regardless of levels of development, do allow for making some type of impression.
