Wait, what?  I was just about to climb up to get into your window!  We think alike!

Please carry these with you, but before you go, I’ll need you to sign pages two, three and seven and please initial each of the binding clauses on pages five and six of these insurance er, um, practically meaningless documents. Don’t waste your precious time reading them first; I’ve already read them for you. (Cough, cough.)

Yeah but, where there is lightning, there is thunder.

To make sure that I’m still afraid of heights (checks ‘yes’ on the insurance form).

To dislodge a dead raccoon from the chimney... in the pouring rain (maybe I should have cleaned the flue before I lit the fire).

To see which way the wind is blowing (the weather vane broke).

To make sure the lightning rod still works.

All valid reasons. See if the pizza delivery guy is getting close to my house, please.

Aye.  That too is a terrible reason to go up on the roof.

Not going to the roof.  If there should be a storm and I'm stranded here and I needed to go higher than the attic, I'm not sure I could get out from the attic.  I would have to swim out a 2nd floor window and try to get onto the roof that way.  The top of the roof is 4th floor level so I hope the flood would not exceed that.

  • In the old days rich people would fly around in zeppelins, dropping coins on people. One day I see J.D. Rockefeller going by so I climb up to the roof with my big washtub... This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at August 27, 2021 4:55 AM MDT

To rake leaves off the roof

My siblings and I, when young, LOVED when our neighbor would do that -- she'd climb out of their upstairs window with a broom/rake and sweep/rake away.
