No I think Trump will be too busy being the new Grand Wizard of the KKK. You will be able to tell its Trump because there will be orange makeup all over his pointy white hood. Cheers!

Biden will probably be a one-term president. He knows that and that is why his choice of VP is so critical. He wants someone who can take over from him.

Right.  He would have to be pretty awful before anybody might think of having Trump back.

If he serves one term and doesn't run again, his veep would not automatically "take over from him." The winner of the next election would. And it's relatively rare for a sitting or recent vice president to be elected president. The last five times such a candidate ran, only once did he win. Richard Nixon lost in 1960, Hubert Humphrey lost in 1968, Walter Mondale lost in 1984, George H.W. Bush won in 1988, and Al Gore lost in 2000. So his choice of a running mate is not especially critical for that reason.

I am aware that the VP would have to run for election if Biden serves his full term. He is also aware that he is 78 years old and it's a tough job, so while the choice of VP should always take into account the possibility of her becoming president, Biden has expressed that this is one of his top priorities. As for a whether or not a sitting vice president has a chance of winning the election based on history, it's probably a better chance than someone who has never held any office winning the presidential election. If Biden serves only a single term by his own choice, then it would be likely that if his VP has done a good job, that she could well be the next Democratic candidate. This is what I meant to express in my original response, sorry if it was unclear.

Today while I was supposed to be working I thought up a joke to go with my above post. When Trump is asked  if he wants to be the new Grand Wizard  of  the KKK he will ponder it for  a moment then say - ya I like  the sound of that - KKK (someone else might like the sound of being a Grand Wizard but Trump just likes the KKK part). Cheers! This post was edited by Nanoose at June 23, 2020 1:48 PM MDT

Did I say Byrd was a Grand Wizard?  Nope.
Byrd was a both a recruiter and a the LEADER of his chapter.
The picture does not refer to him as a Grand Wizard either....it says LEADER.

It just points out that image of Biden with Byrd as 'misleading'

No it is NOT misleading. It would be if I claimed Byrd was a Grand Wizard. That has never been confirmed. But it is a fact that Dem Robert Byrd was both recruiter and leader of his local KKK chapter.  (Does that mean Wizard but not Grand Wizard? I don't know.)  Biden also spoke at Byrd's funeral. Hillary referred to Byrd as a mentor.

I am just stating the facts. Biden is the one who was with former KKK members.

Well Byrd was and he was a mentor to Hillary and a "dear leader and friend" to Biden.

Well let me ask before I accidentally put words in your mouth.

At its core, being a mentor is being a trusted advisor.   In my answer below, Byrd said that Baskin encouraged him to pursue politics, citing his savvy organizing skills.

FLASH:  It turns out that managing skills are transferable..

So now, were you intending to suggest that Biden or Hilary were being mentored to be better at opposing the rights of blacks as suggested in the blurry headline that you posted with that 2008 picture, or do you think it possible that his mentoring was limited to transferring his organization skills to either or both?
Or, as I suspect, are you just trying to link Biden and Hilary with the KKK as pretty much anybody I know would conclude you are trying to do?

My point was there is more of a link to the KKK with Biden than there is to Trump.  Which was what the answer replied to by posting the pictue.

You can't quit, can you? DJT's own FATHER was ARRESTED for participating in a Klan event and you can fact check that. Of course Donnie is going to follow daddy dearest, considering that's who bailed him out of bankruptcy six times.

I would not vote for his father.
If bankrupcty was grounds for removal from politics most of our politicans would have to go home.  Trump does not belong in casino/hotel business. He is not any longer. If you file for bankrupcty it "bails you out" not your family.

Let's let people decide for themselves whether what you posted was misleading---in ANY way

Byrd was not a KKK grand wizard — but he did once lead a chapter

This picture of Biden and Byrd was taken by the Associated Press in October 2008 at a campaign rally in Charleston, West Virginia, during the time that Biden was running for vice president alongside then-Sen. Barack Obama.

Byrd grew up in West Virginia, which is where he got involved with the KKK.

“Many of the ‘best’ people were members — even senators and other high officials,” he wrote in his autobiography. “It was with such background impressions, therefore, that I sought to become a member of the KKK in the early 1940s.”

He recounted in his autobiography that at that time, he wrote a letter to Joel L. Baskin, the Klan’s grand dragon in his area, asking to join. In order to start a Klan chapter, or “klavern,” in his town, Byrd was tasked with recruiting 150 people to the Klan. When he involved enough people to start a klavern, a unanimous vote among the recruits named him “Exalted Cyclops” of their group, which is the highest-ranking position in a chapter.

After the meeting, Byrd said that Baskin encouraged him to pursue politics, citing his savvy organizing skills.

Byrd went on to become the second-longest-serving U.S. congressman in the country’s history, clocking six years in the House of Representatives and 51 years in the Senate. During his time in the Senate, he was both the minority and majority leader, and the chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations.

Throughout Byrd’s political career, he continually denounced his involvement with the Klan.

“The greatest mistake I ever made was joining the Ku Klux Klan,” Byrd said in a 1993 interview with CNN’s Bernard Shaw, according to Slate. “And I’ve said that many times. But one cannot erase what he has done. He can only change his ways and his thoughts. That was an albatross around my neck that I will always wear. You will read it in my obituary that I was a member of the Ku Klux Klan.”
