I answer your questions, don’t I?  Use that as a measuring stick.

Sociopathic wasn't my diagnosis. However, a lot of other things were. So, I would be a "1". This post was edited by Zack at July 8, 2020 1:53 PM MDT

Inherent problem - the unlikelihood of getting an honest answer.

It's easier to determine by watching someone's behaviour.
A sociopath (someone who has antisocial personality disorder) lacks empathy and therefore can't understand feelings of others. They’ll often break rules or make impulsive decisions without feeling guilty for the harm they cause.

To qualify for a diagnosis of sociopathic a person would have a pattern of at least three of the following seven traits:

    1. Doesn’t respect social norms or laws - consistently break laws or overstep social boundaries.
    2. Lies, deceives others, uses false identities or nicknames, and uses others for personal gain.
    3. Doesn’t make any long-term plans. They also often behave without thinking of consequences.
    4. Shows aggressive or aggravated behavior. They consistently get into fights or physically harm others.
    5. Doesn’t consider their own safety or the safety of others.
    6. Doesn't follow up on personal or professional responsibilities. This can include repeatedly being late to work or not paying bills on time.
    7. Doesn’t feel guilt or remorse for having harmed or mistreated others.

Other possible symptoms of ASPD can include:

    • being “cold” by not showing emotions or investment in the lives of others
    • using humor, intelligence, mind games or charisma to manipulate others
    • having a sense of superiority and strong, unwavering opinions
    • not learning from mistakes
    • not being able to keep positive friendships and relationships
    • attempting to control others by intimidating or threatening them
    • getting into frequent legal trouble or performing criminal acts
    • taking risks at the expense of themselves or others
    • threatening suicide without ever acting on these threats
    • becoming addicted to drugs, alcohol, or other substances

ASPD can be diagnosed in someone as young as 15 years old if they show symptoms of a conduct disorder. These symptoms include:

    • breaking rules without regard for the consequences
    • needlessly destroying things that belong to themselves or others
    • stealing
    • lying or constantly deceiving others
    • being aggressive toward others or animals

I wasn’t expecting honest answers, but this one was interesting. I wouldn’t consider myself a sociopath, but there are easily a couple on that list that could pertain to me.

All of us have the potential to be a little bit that way occasionally.
For a diagnosis to stick, someone has to have consistently displayed at least three of the traits over a long time.
The primary clue is zero degrees of empathy; that's definitely not you, Paynuts.
