      Only the ones that are mines. Those that are not mines do not count as mines.

    You didn’t specify only sub surface mines. So a quarry counts.

      Like I stated above, if it’s a mine, it counts. If it’s not a mine, it doesn’t. All types of mines count.

    Yes. I was in a silver mine in, I believe, in Colorado. The tour guide had our group walk into the mine then he turned off all of the lights. I've never experienced such profound darkness before. Very interesting tour. :)

    I've been swimming in quarries my whole young life.  Truly the coldest water I've been been in.  We used to skip school and we would all meet at the quarries.

    I have been in a number of mines and underground stone quarries (which are often called that rather than "mines"), but as a visiting caver or tourist, not employee.
