Not really.  I was raised listening to Elvis and they're firmly ingrained into my mind.  Anyone else doing the same songs is just wrong.

Fair, I wasn’t raised on him and never cared for his music, but I have come across a few covers of his songs I really like. I’m always surprised when I look up the origin.. oh, that guy lol.

Yes. And, like Randy (dang it!) I don't even care for covers of most of them. I do like this song and the cover isn't terrible (for Dwight Yokum). Well, I think it's worse than I recall. I didn't think it was terrible in 1990.

The beginning of the video is kind of funny.

    Dwight's my man!

I'm not a huge country music fan but, somehow, Dwight rocks my world.

I think he's a decent actor, too! I like very little country, also, but I really like some songs and artists.

He was pretty sexy in this video! :)

Wow! Few people with whom I hang know Yoakam has been in movies, in all sorts of roles, even besides acting - - producing / directing // etc.! I agree with you on his acting ability! :)

I saw him in concert once -- I really enjoyed the concert.

I've pointed him out in 'Panic Room' to people and they're astounded that it's him!

Some people are multi-talented with big time talents! :)

    Definitely!
    :)

And who's the guy who appears (with no credit) in a movie where he's just a passenger in an elevator? I can't remember -- don't know if that is Yoakam in "Panic Room" or some other guy in some other movie.

I know he's credited in Panic Room. I'm not sure what that is.

    I don't either. :P

Don’t you just hate it when you have to admit that you agree with Randy D about something? Grrrrrrrrr.

I haven't seen it in a million years, I need my Yokum fix now lol. I could post a question about his music but doubt I’d get much back here on it. I’ll just watch his movie soon :)

    That cast looks good!

I almost watched a new-to-me movie last evening. I'll try this one next. If I can stream it free somewhere...

    Cool.
I don't remember a lot of details but I remember enjoying it and finding it interesting. Again, something about Yoakam stuff appeals to me, no matter how he is involved. Something about his art work strikes a chord with me.

I couldn't stream it free, but I'm going to keep looking for it!

I get what you're saying. Honestly, I think the point to art in all forms is to express something that hopefully someone else can appreciate and relate to (or strike a chord with, as you put it).
