Fair, I wasn’t raised on him and never cared for his music, but I have come across a few covers of his songs I really like. I’m always surprised when I look up the origin.. oh, that guy lol.
Yes. And, like Randy (dang it!) I don't even care for covers of most of them. I do like this song and the cover isn't terrible (for Dwight Yokum). Well, I think it's worse than I recall. I didn't think it was terrible in 1990.
Wow! Few people with whom I hang know Yoakam has been in movies, in all sorts of roles, even besides acting - - producing / directing // etc.! I agree with you on his acting ability! :)
I saw him in concert once -- I really enjoyed the concert.
And who's the guy who appears (with no credit) in a movie where he's just a passenger in an elevator? I can't remember -- don't know if that is Yoakam in "Panic Room" or some other guy in some other movie.
I hate hate hate most country music but I always loved Dwight Yokum lol. I don’t know what it was about him but I loved the whole album this song was on of his and I remember it well. I’ll forgive you be like Randy for remind me of Dwight. Now I want to rewatch sling blade.
I haven't seen it in a million years, I need my Yokum fix now lol. I could post a question about his music but doubt I’d get much back here on it. I’ll just watch his movie soon :)
And in case you don't see my reply to Camera Obscura -- if you haven't seen it, check out "South of Heaven, West of Hell" movie he directed. He does all the music in it, too. :)
Cool. I don't remember a lot of details but I remember enjoying it and finding it interesting. Again, something about Yoakam stuff appeals to me, no matter how he is involved. Something about his art work strikes a chord with me.
I couldn't stream it free, but I'm going to keep looking for it!
I get what you're saying. Honestly, I think the point to art in all forms is to express something that hopefully someone else can appreciate and relate to (or strike a chord with, as you put it).
