I am prone to taking the initiative. I was responsible for my daughter's school having an after-school program.

    That is one example.

I'll have you know I have never taken an initiative.  I paid for every one of them.

In 1968. I wanted a 1968 Roadrunner in the worst way and by golly, I was going to have one. So I took the initiative to make sure I got one. My first new car. It may not have been an earth-shattering event to most people but it was for me. :)

I don't recall any particular incident but I'm sure I did...

I was in restaurant and happened to see a late-teens-looking guy right at the moment he started choking on food. I watched for a second or two and then hurried over and pretty quickly realized he might need the Heimlich maneuver and I did it. It worked and he was fine.

In hindsight, I still am surprised at myself but I'm glad he was okay. Sort of scary in hindsight but, as it was happening, I don't remember what I was feeling.

When I made it very clear to my children that a dirty head and hair smell bad and they better keep it clean or I'd do it for them.  I even change my own pillow cases 2-3 times a week.  Every time I wash my own hair.  The slightest hint of that dirty hair smell lingers and makes me physically ill.  It can even get on winter jackets around the neck.  I can smell it and it grosses me out.
Face Oils and sweat also get on pillow cases and stink up everything.  Sweat is another smell I absolutely can't stand or be around unless it is washed off right away.
