That comma doesn’t belong there at all.
Fondness for the comma or not, it’s a single clause with no break in it whatsoever. There are people who are fond of apostrophes or quotation marks to the point that they use them indiscriminately and incorrectly; that doesn’t make the fondness any more defensible than your claim here.
The use of the phrase “at all” in my sentence is wholly appropriate in its use for emphasis.

No amount of defensive speech-making is going to absolve this simple fact: your use of the comma in that particular sentence was absolutely incorrect. This back and forth can continue for as long as you like, and nothing will suddenly change something wrong into something right.
I am well aware of the purposes and functions of a comma, thank you very much.
