Have you ever been in an exceptionally fast car? Want to share your fast car story with us?

I have not. I'm not a fan of fast driving or of being driven fast.

Depends on what you classify as "fast".  I call going 60 MPH n a car that's vibrating so hard you think it's going to fall apart at any minute,  as extremely fast.  (white knuckle fast.  "Stain on the seat" fast.)

Yes, that sounds unpleasant and too fast! I wouldn't like that. I speed a little, but anything over 80 MPH scares me.

Oh yeah! I drive an exceptionally fast car, My Mustang GT V8 can go from 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds.

That's fast! You're obviously adventurous in a different way than I.

I've gotten as high as 95 mph on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in my Hyundai Elantra.  I'm pretty sure it would go faster, but I was afraid I'd get caught at that speed and so I cut back to 75-80.

When I was young and dumb, I know I went over 100, but I really don't drive over 75-78 MPH now. Probably my anxiety, but faster doesn't seem safe to me. Too many things can happen, especially wildlife in my area.

Understood.  I don't do it on local streets - only on highways when traffic permits.  Ironically, when I took my road test, my inspector said that I drove too slow.  He should see me now!

For many years 85 mph was my comfortable speed on the expressway but I don't go that fast any more.  I generally go three or four over the speed limit regardless of type of road.  I've asked drivers to slow down many times, mostly in Corvettes.  When I was dating, I was shocked at how many single men had Corvettes.  This made me think about the football player, Ruggs, who had the crash a week or so ago going 156 mph.  I just realized when I saw the street video that he was on a local street...not even a highway.  He is gifted and threw away everything he had worked so hard for.  Such a shame, but I wouldn't want him on my team now.

I usually set my cruise at about 8 over, as I feel there's little chance for a ticket!

I don't understand 'the need for speed', but many people don't understand things about me, too. I am bothered by the risk they put to others, though. I don't speed in construction or school zones. I don't get people who do.

That's sad about the football player. So many young people lose their lives like that, and injure and kill others.

It's horribly sad.  When he crashed he hit another car and killed a woman.  He had what many people think is "it all."  Ruggs survived but he lost his career ($10 Million signing bonus and $4 Million per year).  He's an Alabama boy and I watched him play ball for years.

I've been ticketed for 7 over. Kilometres, not miles.

Ruggs also killed a woman in that crash; far worse than ruining his own future.
    :(

Back in the day I had one of the fastest cars that ever cruised the 401 in southerner Ontario. There is 2 stories to that car. One is it put me in the poor house suping it up. And 2 - I hurt the pride of the Ontario Provincial Police  when I left their interceptor in the dust. It was a Plain Jane - it didn't look like much but it had a lot going on under the hood. It was a 1971 Gremlin X with a V8. Cheers and happy weekend! This post was edited by Nanoose at November 13, 2021 12:43 AM MST

    That sounds pretty fast!

I always first look to fuel economy, reliability and maintenance costs in cars.

    Cheers! Happy weekend!

    No, I haven't. And I'm fine.

But I ride with joy every time with Tracy.

Yes! She is one of my favorite female voices. And I just dig her vibe!

Possibly a reason I like her.  :)   As another singer has said, "sad songs say so much."

That's my favourite song of Elton's. The tune is upbeat, doesn't match the lyrics at all. That kind of quirkiness appeals to me.
