I doubt it is all due to everyone being cooped up for almost two years due to Covid, but I'm finding that people are much less civil towards one another now that we're out and about. The smallest courtesies seem to be too difficult for a lot of folks these days. Tempers are short, fuses are shorter. On the roads, drivers are less courteous, take more chances changing lanes with insufficient room, go from the far left lane over three other lanes to exit, get into more arguments over parking spots, etc. It's as though we've forgotten that we are not the most important person on the planet and are "entitled" to what we want when we want it without considering anyone else.
Well we have a saying on Vancouver Island which is - never bring a punch or kick to a gun fight. So I don't think it is barbaric to shoot someone that wants to kill you or your loved ones. As far as the punching and kicking goes I'm thinking about that song Coward Of The County. Sometimes you have to punch and kick to protect yourself or a loved one and the only way that is barbaric is if you target someone's family jewels. Cheers and happy weekend!
