That would depend on the family.   When my nephew visits from Australia, he makes sure that all dinner conversations end up being about feces, vomit, or festering body parts (without fail).

For our family, chickens, are a taboo subject.  My niece was never too fond of chickens.  For her 20th birthday, her brother wrapped up a live chicken (in a big box) and gave it to her.  Let's just say more than feathers flew.  So for our family, feces is a fine topic, but not chickens.

That comma after the word “chickens” doesn’t belong there at all.

Your nephew would fit right in at my family’s holiday meals.  He’d probably have a lot to talk about with my grandmas and my great aunts who always try to outdo each other with those kinds of stories about their health.

Bathroom humor, I know it should be avoided but when the kids are over everyone seems to end up talking about it and then we all sit around like a bunch of nincompoops laughing our heads off. :):)

It’s understood by all around here that no one should bring the sub-basement as a topic of conversation. Grrrrrrr.

      Of course!

(Nice try, Professor. You’re either working for the police or you’re investigating on your own, but no matter which it is, I’m not going to make it easy for you. Grrrrrrr.)

My family couldn’t stay away from either politics or lower digestive problems this year.  We even combined the two into one topic.

Biden's colonoscopy came up, didn't it? Hehe!

I really don't miss a more traditional Thanksgiving!

I think my family pretty much covered all of the topics that shouldn’t be discussed at the dinner table on Thursday.  My kids are now just waiting for the most embarrassing possible time and place to ask me what that offensive word means. lol.

The myriad ways you have plotted to kill them.
Especially if any of those ways include poisoning their food. This post was edited by Walt O'Reagun at December 20, 2021 7:12 AM MST
