What wakes me up simply just depends on when I hit the sack the night before.

Yeah...in the Summer, if my window is open, chirping robins will wake me up at 0400-0430.

Only kind of bird there is any of around where I live is crows and seagulls.
I toss 'em food once in a while because they are fun to watch.

I just throw a bit of foodstuffs to them once in a while otherwise there would be too many of them hanging around outside pooping all over the place.

I neglected to place an 'm' on the 'any'.

Or "The only birds where I live are crows and seagulls." Much simpler.

I hate that early chirping  -- I keep thinking, "Shut the  . . . up!"

That's what I like about winter and darkness -- it's actually quiet. And dark for longer periods of time. Very peaceful to me.
    :)

I don't hate it, it's what birds do. Just annoying. I simply close the window.

Yes, you're right, it's what they do. You have a much more healthy approach, yes. I'd do well to join with you on it.

It's not an excuse but mornings tend to be the worst part of the day for me, emotionally and 'anxiety"-wise. Along with closed windows, I can hear those birds also over the running window air conditioner. I admit to getting frustrated sometimes.

None of those things. What wakes me up in the morning is my anti-psychotic meds wearing off.

    2. Pet.  More precisely, a cat.  My kitty's completely deaf, so when he "speaks" (sceams?) his voice is louder than a smoke alarm.  At precisely 7 am, he gets up and goes from room to room demanding the heat be turned on.  He'll then park himself next to the refrigerator exhaust port and continue his demands.  On some days he can get my other cat to "chime in", only he's demanding to be fed "fish" (his pills in wet cat food).  Of course, since he's the older cat (head of the pack), he thinks he's more important, so he tries to drown out the other cats voice.

    And thus begins each day.

No, as I NEED to get up by that time.   What's really strange - if, for some reason, I need to get up earlier, all I have to do is mention it and that stone deaf kitty will wake me up at the time I request.  Yet I he won't let me sleep in.

When I was in grammar school, a friend named Elaine Birkenholz had a clock like that in her room.
